The way the human mind functions always fascinated me even from an early age. I would always wonder “Why do people think, feel and act the way that they do?” Each person is unique, and people can have the same thoughts but have different reasonings for how and why they think the way that they do. This strengthened my purpose and desire to study psychology and help people better understand themselves and work towards leading a better, healthier and happier life.
Growing up in Florida I was always the “counselor” friend that everyone came to vent to because I was able to look at every situation from an outside perspective and offer thoughts and suggestions they may not have considered before. I thoroughly enjoy talking to people and brings me great joy to being able to help them in any way that I can. Taking my 1st psychology class in high school made me realize I never wanted to do anything else and lit a fire in me for psychology that grows stronger every day. I received my bachelor’s in psychology at Florida State University in 2016 and graduated with my master’s in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University in 2023. During my last year of grad school, I worked at Capital Area Counseling here in Austin, Tx and got to experience working with clients for the 1st time. I found the experience rewarding and rich with connection, learning and growth not only from my clients but also for myself.
I view each session with a client as though you are picking up a new book for the first time. You never know what will happen on each page, but I get excited to find out. I thoroughly enjoy getting to know each one of my clients while learning and being a part of the creation and shaping of their stories.
I take a solution-focused and person-centered approach with my clients. I value authenticity not only from my clients but also from myself. I can’t expect my clients to be authentic if I can’t be my true self as well. I feel authenticity is the foundation for a strong relationship between client and therapist which leads to trust, respect and allows for true work and healing to begin.
I work with individuals 21 and over dealing with depression, anxiety, life-transitions, career changes, grief and relationship concerns. I am also LGBTQA+ allied.
When I’m away from the office you can usually catch me playing video games with friends online, hanging at my sister’s house playing with my nephew or just staying home and watching bad hallmark movies and critiquing them with my mom and my 2 cats.
