Howdy-do, and welcome to my bio page!

When I’m not engaging with clients, I enjoy playing guitar, writing poetry/music, running, and spending quality time with family and friends. As a musician and artist, I believe that expressive arts have played a significant role in my journey to becoming a therapist and have provided a meaningful outlet for self-expression.

Prior to entering the field of mental health, I completed my undergraduate studies at Texas Wesleyan University, graduating with a B.A. in Music Performance in 2019. While at Texas Wesleyan, I taught music lessons and worked as a Resident Assistant, and it is through such experiences that I found myself faced with other people's emotions and experiences as they would come to music lessons or meet me in the hall. I found myself providing a safe space for others and came to enjoy that more and more and changed fields from music to counseling. I then attended Texas Woman’s University where I earned my M.S. in Counseling and Development.

I align with Person-Centered Theory and have found it to be helpful in developing therapeutic relationships and fostering the conditions for change, especially in my graduate clinical work in PHP/IOP settings. I specialize in working with children, adolescents and adult populations, and have given much focus towards the areas of depression, anxiety, and grief. In addition to Person-Centered Theory, I have experience in utilizing CBT, DBT, and expressive arts approaches.

I love music and find that it’s wonderful and helpful to connect through musical taste, so, if a client has a favorite song or artist, I love to learn about why that music resonates with them. I believe many of our values and perspectives are reflected in the things we enjoy. As a therapist, I believe that the client is the expert of their own experiences, and therapy requires the collaboration of both the client and the therapist to work together to make the change a client is seeking.
